The Anatomy of a Durable Metal Frame: Joints, Hinges & Adjustability
The durability of a metal frame is defined at its weakest links: the joints and hinges. Tuopu engineers these critical points for lifelong performance. Bridge joints are reinforced through design (a saddle bridge distributes stress better than a keyhole) and joined via laser welding for a monolithic feel. Hinges are the heart of the frame’s movement; we use 5- or 7-barrel stainless steel or titanium hinges secured with precision screws. Many feature spring-loaded mechanisms that allow the temples to flex outward, increasing comfort and resistance to damage from spreading. Furthermore, a key advantage of metal is its adjustability. We design frames to allow opticians to carefully bend the bridge for nose fit and the temples for ear alignment. This means a Tuopu metal frame isn’t just durable against breakage; it’s durable in its ability to be perfectly and repeatedly fitted over many years of use.
